About Joel Reimer

Joel Reimer is the founder and principal builder of Reimer Construction, bringing over 30 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry and more than 24 years of custom home building expertise. 

Roots in the Trade

Joel’s path into construction started at home. Raised on a family operation that blended building, hog farming, and land stewardship, he spent his formative years learning the trade shoulder to shoulder with his father and brothers.

This early exposure instilled a strong respect for craftsmanship, hard work, and practical problem-solving values that continue to shape his approach to building today. He later expanded his skill set while working with a professional home-building company, refining his knowledge of quality construction, project coordination, and efficient building systems. 

Building a Business in Nova Scotia

Originally from Manitoba, Joel began his construction career with his family before relocating to Nova Scotia in 2002 to join Barkman Builders.

After several years working on residential projects throughout the Annapolis Valley, Joel and his wife, Cindy, founded Reimer Construction in 2006, establishing a company built on integrity, precision, and long-term client relationships.

Joel’s Approach & Philosophy

Throughout his career, Joel has built homes ranging from 800 to 6,000 square feet, managing projects of varying scale while maintaining the same high standard of detail and craftsmanship. As Joel puts it, “The most exciting part of this job is the transformation. I enjoy seeing a project through its various stages, but nothing compares to taking undeveloped land and turning it into something a homeowner can truly be proud of.” 

Joel personally oversees each project, ensuring clear communication, thoughtful planning, and consistent quality from start to finish. His hands-on approach and decades of experience give clients confidence that their home is being built with care, expertise, and respect for both budget and vision.
