Barn Construction: Custom Agricultural Barns in Nova Scotia

Agricultural Barns in Nova Scotia

Whether you’re building for a growing hobby farm, a working commercial agricultural facility, or a dedicated man cave retreat, a custom barn by Reimer Construction is designed with purpose and built to last.

Crafted for work, lifestyle, and legacy.

A well-designed barn is more than a storage space – it’s a central hub for your property. From rough board interiors that create warmth and character, to fully customized layouts that support your daily operations, every structure is thoughtfully planned to match your goals.

We approach each barn as a custom design project, ensuring the layout, finishes, and structural components align with how you intend to use the space – whether that’s livestock housing, equipment storage, processing areas, or a fully finished upper level with a custom kitchen for entertaining and gathering.

Our Nova Scotia Barn Construction Services Include:

  • Fully custom design tailored to your property and intended use
  • Custom wood interior finishes for authentic character and durability
  • Commercial-grade construction for agricultural facilities
  • Hobby farm barns with flexible layouts for animals and storage
  • Integrated custom kitchens or lounge spaces
  • Dedicated man cave or recreational areas
  • Insulated, energy-efficient building envelopes
  • Durable metal roofing and siding options

Serving Nova Scotia’s rural and agricultural communities, Reimer Construction builds barns that combine craftsmanship, strength, and timeless appeal.

Whether your vision is practical, agricultural, or lifestyle-driven, we create spaces that work hard and feel right at home on your land.

Our 7-Step Reimer Project Path

Step 1

We start with a complimentary phone meeting to discuss your project goals and ensure they align with our services.

During this call, we review your objectives, confirm budget compatibility, and assess the project’s overall feasibility.

Step 2

Meet at the customer’s project location to assess overall site feasibility.

A site visit to evaluate your property.

  • It is important to evaluate where the proposed house will be located.
  • Reimer Construction prides itself on making sure the design of the house fits its surroundings.

Assessment of how the project integrates with the property, including lot elevations, building proximity, and overall feasibility

  • Does the house fit the property
  • Are there unique features that need to be considered
  • Location of services
  • Driveway location
  • Where will the well and septic be located
Step 3

Should your project align with our criteria, we offer preliminary plans and pricing for a fee, beginning at $1,500 plus tax. This initial service encompasses:

Discussion of potential design concepts and layout options

  • Does the house need to be wheelchair accessible?
  • How many bedrooms are needed?
  • How many bathrooms are needed? Walkout basement?
  • Energy efficiency?

Development of a preliminary floor plan

  • We will take the design concepts and draw a preliminary design.
  • Includes one floor plan. Revisions are included in the next step.
Step 4

If you’re satisfied with the preliminary plans, pricing, and how the design fits your property, we move forward with the Preconstruction Services Agreement starting at $8,500 plus tax.

This phase includes seven primary components.

Step 5

Once the contract is signed and we receive a 10% down payment, your project is officially added to our construction schedule.

We then move forward with obtaining all required permits, scheduling trades, and starting building.

Step 6

Your vision now begins to take shape as construction starts on your property. While the site may appear chaotic, you can be confident in our proven experience. We manage the process to deliver your beautiful finished home.

To ensure transparency and a smooth process, we provide weekly progress reports to keep you fully informed.

Step 7

Rest assured that all Reimer Construction homes are covered with Atlantic Home Warranty’s new home warranty. Here is a link to the coverage.

Approximately a year after your home is complete, we will come to your home to repair any defects.

Please note: Payment is required before starting each step of the process.
