200-Year-Old Home Expansion with Modern Upgrades

This renovation and addition project is a great example of how a historic home can be thoughtfully adapted to modern living. Originally built nearly 200 years ago, this home was carefully expanded to create additional living space while preserving its original character and charm. 

The project included a well-integrated addition that blends seamlessly with the existing structure, providing improved functionality without overpowering the original home. As part of the renovation, all windows and doors in the original house were replaced, significantly improving comfort, energy efficiency, and overall performance. Insulation was added to the exterior walls, followed by the installation of new vinyl siding, giving the home a refreshed appearance while enhancing durability and thermal efficiency.

At the rear of the house, a new composite deck creates a practical and low-maintenance outdoor living area, ideal for relaxing and entertaining. This area also includes a dedicated dog run, thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and functional outdoor space that fits naturally into the property layout. At the front of the home, a new porch with composite decking and aluminum railing adds both curb appeal and a welcoming entry. 

Inside the addition, durable vinyl plank flooring was installed to suit everyday living. Mechanical upgrades include a forced-air heat pump serving the original home, with a ductless heat pump added in the primary bedroom for personalized comfort. An automatic propane generator ensures peace of mind with reliable backup power. 

The completed project successfully balances historic preservation with modern upgrades, creating a comfortable, efficient home designed to serve its owners for generations to come.
